Gerri Schroder was elected at large to the Henderson City Council in April 2007 and re-elected 2011 and 2015, representing Ward I. Councilwoman Schroder serves with the mayor and fellow council members as the legislative branch of the Henderson community, responsible for setting policies and making decisions concerning many aspects of local government for Nevada's second largest city, which has been recognized as one of the best places to live in America and one of the nation's safest cities.
As Councilwoman, Schroder represents the city on the Southern Nevada Workforce Connections Local Elected Officials Consortium and the Clark County School District Oversight Committee on School Facilities. She serves as the council representative on the Commission on Tourism and is a member of the Henderson Development Association and the Henderson Redevelopment Agency. She is also a member of the Henderson and Las Vegas Metro Chambers of Commerce and the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition..
In addition to regional representation, Councilwoman Schroder serves as the 2018 president of the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities board of directors. She was elected to the National League of Cities (NLC) board of
directors in November 2016 and serves on the NLC Board Legislative Action Committee and First Tier Suburbs Council. Councilwoman Schroder also serves as chair of the Western Municipal Association.
Councilwoman Schroder has been recognized by many organizations. She received the 2018 Influential Woman in Scouting award; 2016 OCA Las Vegas Community ICON award; the 2014 Distinguished Endeavor Award for Government from Distinguished Women in Nevada; the 2013 Urban Chamber of Commerce Women in Business and Politics award; the 2011 Public Official of the Year award from the Japan America Society of Nevada; and was named Elected Official of the Year in 2008 by the Asian Chamber of Commerce.
Councilwoman Schroder previously served on the Governor's Workforce Investment Board Manufacturing Sector Council and the Mining and Materials Sector Council. She also served as Chair of the NLC's Community & Economic Development Committee and the First Tier Suburbs Council.
She has served as president of the Japan America Society of Nevada and S.A.F.E. House, Inc. Councilwoman Schroder previously served on the board of directors for Foundation for Positively Kids, JYD Project, Las Vegas Urban League, Metro Arts Council, Nevada State College Diversity Council and OCA Las Vegas Chapter. She is a former member of the Asian, Latin and Urban Chambers of Commerce.
Before her elected service, Councilwoman Schroder voluntarily served on both the City of Henderson Planning Commission and Commemorative Beautification Commission between 1994 and 2007.
Councilwoman Schroder enjoys sampling local cuisine during her travels. She also enjoys trips to Disneyland with her family.
