Pets in the Parks
Pets are welcome in the parks, but they must
be leashed at all times and are not allowed on
the splash pads. Owners must clean up after
their pets. We have a number of designated dog
parks where dogs can run free and socialize.
To find locations near you, refer to Henderson
dog parks online. Pets are not permitted at the
Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve.
Splash Pads
Splash pad features are open May 1 through
Sept. 30. To find locations near you, refer to
Henderson splash pads online.

Henderson Trail Watch
Trail Watch is looking for a few good volunteers.
Do you enjoy running, walking, riding a bike,
hiking, riding a horse, or exercising on Henderson
trails? Then why not volunteer your time
while doing something you enjoy? Henderson
Trail Watch is a volunteer group dedicated
to promoting safety and appropriate trail use
by providing information and assistance to
trail users, observing and documenting safety
issues requiring attention, and serving as a
positive presence on Henderson trails. Visit

information and a volunteer services application.

HIKES & WALKS
Hiking Henderson
Hiking Henderson is a hiking challenge that
helps motivate residents to get out and hike
eight trails. If you have the drive to walk them
all, you’ll be rewarded with a hiking stick.
Earn plaques to affix to your walking stick in
subsequent seasons. $20 for the first session;
$8 for each additional session. Call 702-267-5707
for more information. Register in person at any
Henderson recreation center to pick up your
hiking checklist. Redeem for your walking stick
or medallion at DRC.

Story Walk
The Trail Reader program features a children’s
storybook installed page-by-page along a family-friendly
Henderson trail. New stories are featured
monthly. This program is in partnership with
Henderson Libraries. Pre-registration is required.

Hiking Series
Enjoy the great outdoors by taking a hike with
City of Henderson staff. Hiking is a great way
to get in shape while exploring the trails. Dress
for the weather. Youth (under 18 years) must be
accompanied by a parent/guardian. Registration
is required. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring
water, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
Armargosa Trail (3.5 Miles) Moderate
Enjoy the beauty of the desert without really
leaving you neighborhood. We will meet at
Hidden Falls Park and enter the trailhead. The
hike starts and end at the Amargosa Trailhead.

RESERVATIONS
The Following Require Reservations:
• Designated picnic areas
• Use of inflatables, tents, etc. (in authorized
areas only)
• Use of alcoholic beverages (requires a special
permit)
• Grassy areas (requires approval)
• Special events for over 400 attendees
(requires a permit)
• Any event with over 50 attendees (requires a
permit)

Camp Armijo Reservations
Picnic areas (with a few exceptions) are available
to all citizens on a first-come, first-served basis
unless the area has been reserved through our
reservation system. Individuals and groups may
pay to reserve a specific picnic area. Signs are
posted at the picnic area to let others know
it is reserved. All reservations must be made
at least two weeks in advance of the event;
Henderson-based companies and residents may
reserve picnic areas up to 180 days in advance.
Non-residents may reserve picnic areas 90
days in advance. For a complete list of rules and
regulations or an application for reservation, call
702-267-5707, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through
Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday. Or

com (search “reservation”). Splash pads may
not be reserved. Please note that the city does
