The Mayor is pleased to issue official commendations to recognize exceptional, noteworthy achievements, or milestones of residents and local organizations. 

Criteria

  • Commendations are issued once per calendar year.
  • Content considerations may include:
    • Exceptional, noteworthy achievements or milestone
    • Education
    • Employment
    • Children/Grandchildren
    • Wedding Date and Anniversary
    • How many years have they served in a specific job, position, or volunteer capacity
    • Proudest accomplishments personally and/or professionally
    • Hobbies, favorite past times or anything you would like us to know that may be incorporated into the commendation
    • Special saying(s) that all are recognizable to those who know the honoree
    • For Churches/Pastors:
      • Church highlights or projects accomplished
      • Year called to ministry/length of service to the ministry/when you began at said church and in what capacity
      • When was the church founded/built/who founded your ministry
      • Number of residents impacted by church activities
    • For Organizations/Businesses:
      • Highlights or accomplishments
      • Years of service to the community/year of establishment
      • Community impact
  • If you include statistics in a commendation request, please include a link to a credible source that is supported by evidence. A commendation request may be denied if references are not included. Include reference language such as, “according to …”
  • Commendation requests should include four to six "Whereas" clauses. SAMPLE

Once issued by the Mayor, a commendation may not be altered.
