Eligibility

Supplement will only be approved for single-family residential parcels located within the City of Henderson boundaries that are removing functional turf not subject to Assembly Bill 356.

Areas to be converted must be serviced by the City of Henderson and the applicant’s utility account(s) must be in good standing.

Rebate checks are issued to property owners.

Important Deadlines and Restrictions

• Project conversion must be completed within twelve (12) months from application acceptance. Customer to submit approval that the conversion has been completed.
• Conversion to be completed in a single phase.
• Customers are limited to one conversion per calendar year.
• Rebate payments may be considered taxable income and customers may receive a 1099 if total payments by the City of Henderson for rebates and other taxable transactions exceed reportable limits.

Landscape Material Restrictions

• Per HMC 14.14.050.B, once turf is removed it is prohibited to re-install.

Project Size

Conversion area must be deemed functional turf and a minimum of 400 square feet. Project rebate amount of $575.

Authorization to Proceed

Before removing any turf, customer must have applied and been approved for the SNWA Water Smart Landscapes program. (City of Henderson to verify approval with SNWA)

Rebate Amounts and Limits

Subject to available funding and satisfaction of program terms and conditions, the City of Henderson will rebate for Single-Family Residential Functional Turf Removal: a maximum of $575 and a 400 square footage minimum turf conversion. To receive the rebate check, turf conversion and measurements must have been confirmed by SNWA.

Incentive Overview

• The tree rebate is in addition to the $3 per square foot incentive for replacing grass with drip-irrigated landscapes.
• Residential, HOA and business properties participating in the WSL rebate will automatically be considered for the tree incentive as part of the program enrollment (some restrictions apply)
• Plus Henderson Rebate of $50 for each new tree planted.
  • Tree supplement will only be approved for single-family residential parcels located within the City of Henderson boundaries that are removing functional turf not subject to the Nonfunctional Grass Law. If participating in the Tree Rebate, trees planted must be on the List of Qualifying Trees Areas to be converted must be serviced by the City of Henderson and the applicant’s utility account(s) must be in good standing. Rebate checks are issued to property owners. 

Qualifications

• WSL participants must plant new, living trees from the Southern Nevada regional plant list with a minimum canopy value of 236 sq. ft. when mature. 
• Trees listed as “Not Recommended” or “Tree Under Review” are not eligible. 
• Trees also must be in a 15-gallon container or larger with a minimum height of 6-feet when planted in a landscape. 
• In addition, the caliper of the tree trunk should be 1 to 2 inches.

Leak Detection Assistance Program 

SNWA currently offers a $250 voucher which can be applied toward initial leak diagnostic services or the first two hours of service work performed by a Water Smart Plumber listed on SNWA.com. To apply for the voucher, you must be the property owner or the water account holder and complete the application online.

Water Smart Car Wash
