Conservation is a Priority for the City of Henderson
As residents of an arid region, we’re under no illusion about how essential water is to a healthy city. While we all share the benefits this limited resource brings, we also share the responsibility to conserve it. So, as we embrace progress, we recognize that every person in Henderson can make a difference in reducing our water consumption. We’re proud of the strides our community has already taken. But now, it’s urgent. Now, our community can’t afford to just be “good” with water conservation. Now, we need to be great.
We have earned the American Planning Association’s 2026 Award for Excellence in Sustainability – Environment, Climate and Energy for our innovative water conservation initiative, H2One: Henderson’s Call to Conserve.
Launched in response to historic drought conditions and declining levels at Lake Mead, H2One calls on the community to do their part to save water and keep Henderson thriving now and in the future. In its first year, the program reduced Citywide water use by more than one billion gallons, removed or converted 700,000 square feet of water-thirsty decorative grass and cut water use at City facilities and parks by over 10 percent.
H2One is Henderson’s call to conserve and sustain our water supply because it sustains us. It’s all hands on deck: we’re calling all community members to action and empowering them to become conservation champions.
How you can do your part
Water conservation is a responsibility that we all share. Every single resident or business can do their part to conserve water and make a difference by:
- Complying with the regional watering schedule.
- Reporting water waste to the City.
- Taking advantage of rebates to remove decorative grass and install water-smart landscaping.
