Current Projects

Discover the upcoming projects shaping our community, from planned improvements to their expected outcomes. Each initiative is aimed at enhancing the neighborhood's infrastructure and quality of life. Detailed information on each project is listed below.

215 Project

The I-215 Widening project will expand capacity by adding two lanes in each direction between Pecos Rd. and Stephanie St. It also includes upgrades to on-ramps and off-ramps along this stretch, as well as additional turn lanes at key intersections, including Pecos Rd., Green Valley Pkwy., Valle Verde Dr., and Stephanie St.

A major enhancement will be the conversion of the Green Valley Pkwy. bridge over I-215 into a diverging diamond interchange. This innovative design allows vehicles to seamlessly turn left onto freeway on-ramps without stopping, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.

Additionally, a new pedestrian bridge will be built over Green Valley Pkwy. at Village Walk Dr. This bridge will connect both sides of the District at Green Valley Ranch outdoor shopping mall, offering pedestrians a safe and efficient crossing over a heavily trafficked intersection, where traffic often backs up in both directions.

Carnegie Street Parking Project

The project will upgrade Carnegie St. from Green Valley Pkwy. to Paseo Verde Pkwy. Improvements include buffered bike lanes, new no parking signs south of Horizon Ridge Pkwy, street repaving, a pedestrian activated flasher at the trail crossing and a signalized intersection at Cozy Hill and Carnegie St.

Henderson Interchange

Phase I of the Henderson Interchange Improvements project will improve traffic flow around one of our busiest freeway connections. This phase will be focused on preventing traffic bottlenecks where drivers enter the 215 from Lake Mead Parkway and from the I-11 northbound flyover to the 215.

The good news is that this work will be coordinated with the ongoing 215 widening project. That means construction will happen at the same time, so drivers won’t have to deal with separate rounds of road work later.

Our goal is simple: reduce future traffic headaches while limiting how long drivers have to deal with construction. We’re working closely with Clark County and NDOT to plan the safest and most efficient long-term solution.

Horizon Drive to I-11 Improvements

This project includes enhancements to the intersection at Horizon Drive and Pacific Avenue, along with the addition of a new travel lane for northbound access to I-11 from Horizon Drive.
Improvements
  • Traffic signal improvements
  • Modifications to the I-11 northbound on-ramp

University Area I-11 Interchange Feasibility Study

This study will evaluate the feasibility of constructing a new interchange or making improvements to existing interchanges along I-11 between College Drive and Railroad Pass.

Lake Mead Parkway Corridor Study

In partnership with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, we are conducting the Lake Mead Parkway Corridor Study to improve safety, mobility and quality of life along Lake Mead Parkway from the Interstate 11 (I-11) Interchange to Lorin C. Williams Parkway.
This study will examine design options to improve safety and mobility for all users along the corridor, while continuing to meet vehicular travel needs. The study will also assess the needs, opportunities, costs and benefits of safe walking, biking and transit improvements that strengthen community access and connections.

LLV Roundabout
 Lake Las Vegas Parkway Project

The project involves realigning and regrading approximately 800 feet of Lake Las Vegas Parkway and 1,000 feet of Galleria Drive/Strada Di Villaggio to construct a new roundabout intersection. The design will incorporate Complete Streets elements to safely accommodate vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Mohawk Drive & Pueblo Place Improvements

Mohawk Drive and Pueblo Place, between Warm Springs Road and Lake Mead Parkway, are residential streets lined with homes. The posted speed limit throughout this corridor is 25 mph.

Recently, residents have raised concerns about cut-through traffic and vehicles exceeding the speed limit. In response, the City of Henderson collected speed and volume data in December 2023. The results confirmed that speeding is occurring, with 85th percentile speeds ranging from 35 to 43 mph—significantly above the posted limit.

Based on these findings, the roadway meets the minimum criteria for traffic calming measures. The City will move forward with efforts to improve safety and reduce speeding in the area.

Magic Way Improvements

Magic Way, from Boulder Highway to Burkholder Boulevard, is an existing roadway that is exhibiting significant pavement distress in multiple locations. The City plans to rehabilitate the corridor through a combination of pavement reconstruction, repairs, and resurfacing. In addition, the project will include the construction of new curb and gutter, and sidewalks. As part of this effort, the City also plans to extend Magic Way between Newport Drive and Burkholder Boulevard, improving overall network continuity and access.

Reimagine Boulder Highway

The City of Henderson’s Reimagine Boulder Highway project area begins at the south end of the corridor at the Wagonwheel Drive intersection and extends north 7.52 miles to the intersection of Tulip Falls Drive and Boulder Highway. One of the main goals of this project is to change the perception of Boulder Highway from high-speed, motor vehicle-oriented roadway to a calmer, safer, travel corridor for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit-riders and motorists through enhancing safety along the corridor.

Streetlight Illumination

New streetlights are now on along a stretch of Boulder Highway, marking a major milestone for the Reimagine Boulder Highway project. For years, Boulder Highway has been one of the deadliest roadways in Nevada, with poor lighting contributing to dangerous conditions.

Improving safety is a top priority of the project, and the new lights will help drivers, pedestrians and cyclists see and move through the corridor more safely. What was once a dark stretch of roadway is now brighter and more visible for the community. Turning on the lights is an important step forward in creating a safer Boulder Highway for everyone.

Benefits

The Reimagine Boulder Highway concept has many benefits that will keep pedestrians, motorists, cyclists, and transit passengers safer along the corridor:

  • Reduced travel lanes to four, calming traffic
  • Designated bus transit lanes
  • Signalized mid-block crossings
  • Raised/buffered bike lanes
  • Improved lighting
  • Widened sidewalk
  • Potential for open space and parks
