Ward II - Councilwoman Monica Larson
Dr. Monica Larson was elected to the Henderson City Council in November 2024 representing Ward II. Sworn into office January 7, 2025, she became the first black councilmember in Henderson’s history. Councilwoman Larson serves with the mayor and her fellow councilmembers as the legislative branch for the Henderson community. Her responsibilities include setting policies and making decisions concerning various aspects of local government for Nevada's second-largest city, recognized as being one of the best places to live in the nation.
Councilwoman Larson holds a doctorate degree in clinical and forensic psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to her elected service, her career included the treatment of sex offenders, victims of crime, and traditional clientele. She occasionally speaks on human trafficking and child exploitation to provide safety awareness.
Councilwoman Larson relocated to Southern Nevada from Southern California several years ago with the intent to retire, until she felt the call to take her first-ever step into politics. She is the captain of the Inspirada Neighborhood Watch program and is active within her church. She has been married to her husband Eric for 34 years; they have two sons and three grandchildren.
