Water is our most precious resource, and we are making every drop count through our H2One Campaign.

Water Smart Parks: 

• Grass Removal: The City completed 29 grass removal projects and removed over 664,000 square feet of nonfunctional grass in City parks (equivalent to over 11 NFL-sized football fields!), saving 36 million gallons of water annually. City crews also planted 804 new trees in those areas.
• Grass Conversions: The City completed 23 grass conversion projects, converting over 1.5 million square feet of water-thirsty grass to water-efficient grass that is more suitable for our climate. This will save over 31 million gallons of water annually. 

Water Smart Students: 

Over 1,200 elementary students learned how to conserve water through school programs.

Henderson is using the Nevada sunshine to power daily life.

• Solar Power: Residents and businesses added 14,000 kW of rooftop solar this year. This is enough to help power over 100,000 homes.
• Electric Tools: Our Parks Maintenance team began testing all-electric lawnmowers and leaf blowers at Citrine Sky City Park. These tools are quieter and do not breathe out pollution.
• Better Buildings: Funded by the Nevada Clean Energy Fund, The Pass Casino became the first small to mid-size building to receive a Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Project (C-PACE) loan for $1.1 million to upgrade the HVAC system.
• City Fleet: The City added four new electric vehicles to its fleet as well as EV chargers at City facilities. The City is also working to install more public charging stations.

Keeping neighborhoods clean and green helps everyone stay healthy.

• Henderson Shines: More than 1,000 families joined community cleanup events. They recycled over 17 tons of paint, 200 gallons of oil, 8,000 pounds of paper and 12,000 pounds of e-waste electronics.
• Tree Power: The City gave away 110 trees to neighbors in the Pittman area and planted 50 more at O’Callaghan Park to help keep neighborhoods cool.
• Holiday Recycling: Residents helped turn 1,718 Christmas trees into wood chips for local parks.
• Fresh Food: A new Farmers Market was added at Fox Ridge Park so more families can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, increasing the total amount of community farmer's market locations to four.
