About this Project

In its ongoing commitment to revitalize the Boulder Highway Corridor, the City of Henderson alongside the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada, applied and were awarded the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Transit-Oriented Development Planning Grant to plan for connected, safe, walkable, and vibrant communities near transit.

The Connecting Communities to Transit project emerged from a study that reimagined Boulder Highway and recommended transit improvements along the corridor. This project will focus on multi-modal connections to the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Line and on Transit Oriented Community (TOC) near the new BRT stations.

The study will look at:

  • Walking and biking connections to Boulder Highway
  • First/last mile connections to BRT stations
  • Potential for new developments (such as housing, jobs, services, shops, and restaurants)
  • TOC opportunities adjacent to the planned BRT line

Why Boulder Highway?

As one of the oldest and most traveled roadways in the City of Henderson, the Boulder Highway Corridor has long been a key area for beautification, redevelopment, enhanced economic investment, and safety improvements.

The Connecting Communities to Transit planning project aims to maximize the benefit and impact of the investment and construction already underway by planning for increased multi-modal connections from both sides of planned BRT line and stations along the corridor.

The Study Will Look At:

  • Walking and biking connections to Boulder Highway
  • First/last mile connections to BRT stations
  • Potential for new developments (such as housing, jobs, services, shops, and restaurants)
  • TOC opportunities adjacent to the planned BRT line

Project Area

The Connecting Communities to Transit planning project will focus on improving connectivity and accessibility within a 3-mile radius of the planned BRT line.

Those affected and those who will stand to benefit from the ongoing and planned improvements along the 7.5-mile segment of Boulder Highway within the Henderson city limits include: Ward 1 and 3 residents and business owners, pedestrians, cyclists, seniors, transit-dependent bus riders, employers, respective employees, students and more.
