What is the Henderson CARES Housing Assistance Program?

The Henderson CARES Housing Assistance Program20-565128176 Henderson CHAPS Flyer 5.5x8.5 ENG FINAL-01 (or Henderson CHAP) serves residents of Henderson who have suffered substantial financial hardship and now lack sufficient income or resources available to pay their housing costs because of the COVID-19 emergency or the response to that emergency. 

The program allows for payment of rent, mortgage, and utilities arrears back to March 1, 2020, as well as utility deposits, security deposits and emergency lodging.

Payments for services are made directly to a landlord, mortgage company and/or utility company.

Important information about Henderson CHAP:

The level of assistance is based on the availability of CARES Act grant funding and each individual household assessment. Applications will be accepted until all funds are exhausted.

Who is qualified to receive Henderson CHAP funds?

Applicants must be current residents of Henderson, NV and demonstrate how they have been impacted by COVID-19. Anyone currently receiving a subsidy from another rental assistance program or living in public housing is ineligible.

Households must be residents of Henderson, NV, demonstrate a financial impact due to COVID-19, and the household income cannot exceed 120% Area Median Income.


How to apply for Henderson CHAP funds:

Those seeking mortgage assistance should first apply to the Nevada Affordable Housing Assistance Corporation (NAHAC). Information is located at and the phone number is
702-570-5662. If applicants cannot get assistance through NAHAC, then they can apply for assistance from Henderson CHAP.
