Kids Zone follows the Clark County School District break
calendar and is an all-day program designed to entertain
and enrich youth with a variety of supervised interactive
activities when school is not in session due to holidays
and school district unassigned days. The program is held
from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays at select recreation
centers and is open to youth who are enrolled in or
currently attending kindergarten (minimum age 5) of the
current school district year through age 12. Daily and
weekly activities may include fitness and health, arts and
crafts, drama, music, swimming, games, field trips, and
special events. Early registration is recommended as
space fills very quickly.

All registration and participation is subject to space
availability. Parents can register in advance for any
week with a 10 percent non-refundable/non-transferable
deposit per child per week. Deposits are not accepted

YOUTH Payment in full is required on or before the Wednesday
prior to each week the child is scheduled to
participate. The Wednesday deadline time depends on
the payment method you choose:

The Teens-N-Training (TNT) junior leader program trains
teens to become future recreation leaders and to provide
assistance to our summer programs. TNT encourages
self-confidence and develops communication and
leaderships skills. Responsible teens ages 14 and 15 who
are willing to make the commitment for an entire summer
session are placed based on skills, interests, availability,
and location preference. All assignments provide training,
the opportunity to work with children and the chance for
teens to develop their leadership skills.
Applications and program guidelines will be available
at all recreation centers and online at cityofhenderson.
com beginning Feb. 25. Carefully read and complete
all areas of the application as incomplete submissions
will not be processed. You must include two letters of
recommendation with your application. Ask a respected
adult who is not related to you (teacher, coach, religious
leader, etc.) to provide a letter of recommendation.
The registration/application deadline is March 22.
Selected applicants will be contacted the week of April
1-5 to schedule an interview April 8-12. Finalists are
required to attend a mandatory workshop from 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at BMRC. The
workshop focuses on communication, leadership skills,
conflict resolution, and program policies and provides an
overview of your summer experience and expectations.
An orientation for parents and participating teens will
be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at
BMRC. It covers expectations for teens’ behavior and
responsibilities. Payment is due at this time. TNT takes
place at all Kids Zone and Summer Fun sites. Participation
is $130 (ages 14-15 only). TNT is available May 28-Aug. 9.

ABC ETC. and Little Learners are state-licensed
preschools based at VVRC. Group activities and learning
centers cover areas such as motor skills, music, singing,
arts and crafts, and social interaction. The program runs
concurrently with Clark County School District’s 9-month
calendar and is closed on school holidays and staff
development days. All students must be toilet trained.
State law requires the following documents to be
completed or furnished before the student is allowed to

• A completed registration form
• A youth participation form
• A copy of the child’s birth certificate
(may be required)
For session dates and enrollment costs, pick up a
registration packet available beginning May 17 at VVRC
and online at cityofhenderson.com/preschool.
Mail-in registration is available June 17-22 (must be
postmarked on or after June 15). Be sure to include
copies of all required documents. An annual registration
charge of $10 per child (non-refundable and non-transferrable)
must accompany your registration packet.

Drop-off registration begins June 24 (or until classes
are full) at VVRC. The annual registration charge of $10

Orientation & Open House
Successfully enrolled families are required to attend a
drop-in parent/guardian/child open house orientation
for the benefit of the child and to help reduce questions
on the first day of class. During the open house, parent
and child will be guided to their assigned classroom,
have a meet and greet with preschool staff, take part
in a brief classroom orientation and participate in a
question-and-answer session. Orientation is mandatory
for first-time participants.
