to your neighbors. For additional information, call
Henderson Shines, a free annual community cleanup
and recycling event gives residents the opportunity
to donate items, dispose of hazardous household
materials, recycle, and have documents shredded while
learning about the importance of sustainability.
Homeowners often don’t realize many home-based
projects, such as replacing a water heater, require
a building permit. By working with an expert code
official, do-it-yourselfers can take advantage of their
knowledge of building codes to ensure the project is
built right, will be safe and will last. If you aren’t sure
if your project requires a permit, call the Development
Services Center (DSC) at 702-267-3610. Permit
applications may be filled out online (cityofhenderson.
com, search “Permits and Plan Check”), but must be
submitted in person at the DSC.
