The Teens-N-Training (TNT) junior leader program trains
teens to become future recreation leaders and to assist in
our summer programs. TNT encourages self-confidence
and develops communication and leaderships skills.
Responsible teens ages 14 and 15 who are willing to
make the commitment for an entire summer session
are placed based on skills, interests, availability, and
location preference. All assignments provide training,
the opportunity to work with children and the chance for
teens to develop their leadership skills.
Applications and program guidelines will be available
at all recreation centers and cityofhenderson.com.
Carefully read and complete all areas of the application
as incomplete submissions will not be processed. You
must include two letters of recommendation with your
application. Ask a respected adult who is not related to
you (teacher, coach, religious leader, etc.) to provide a
letter of recommendation.
The registration/application deadline is March 22.
Selected applicants will be contacted the week of April
1-5 to schedule an interview April 8-12. Finalists are
required to attend a mandatory workshop from 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at BMRC. The
workshop focuses on communication, leadership skills,
conflict resolution, and program policies and provides an
overview of your summer experience and expectations.
An orientation for parents and participating teens will
be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at
BMRC. It covers expectations for teens’ behavior and
responsibilities. Payment is due at this time. TNT takes
