Suspect Arrested in Lengthy Theft Investigation

Henderson, Nev.- Since March 2019, the City of Henderson Police Department has been investigating a string of wallet thefts targeting the elderly throughout various Henderson grocery store locations.

Victims reported their wallets missing from inside their purses and noticed them missing as they approached the register to check out. 

Throughout the lengthy investigation, it was determined the suspect would target elderly victims whose purses were inside shopping carts and steal their wallets from inside their purse as the victim would momentarily turn away from their carts.

No one was injured during these events.

The suspect was described as a heavy-set black female approximately 50-60 years of age with a ponytail.

Detectives were able to identify 61-year-old Valerie Ray, as the suspect involved.

On January 10th, Detectives located and arrested Ray without incident.  She was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on the following charges:

43 counts of Burglary
53 counts of Use Credit/Debit Card or ID without Owners Consent
11 counts of Obtain/Possess Credit/Debit Card without Owners Consent
10 counts of Abuse Older/Vulnerable Person
