The National Wheelchair Basketball Association is the longest-standing and largest disabled sports organization in the world. It was founded in 1948 to provide individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to learn and play wheelchair basketball.

“The City of Henderson would like to bring wheelchair basketball opportunities to its residents,” said Shari Ferguson, director of Parks and Recreation. “Adapted sports and recreation can assist someone with a disability to be physically active and improve their fitness. Participation also helps in developing stronger self-esteem, a personal sense of worth, and alleviates depression and anxiety.”
