Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department (HPD) is pursuing reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA©), an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to improving law enforcement and public safety services.
The primary purpose of CALEA is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a comprehensive body of law enforcement standards, establishing and administering an accreditation process, and recognizing professional excellence. The Henderson Police Department, which has been accredited since 2002, is currently the largest law enforcement agency in Nevada to be accredited. The Henderson Police Communications Center is also accredited.
As a part of this assessment, members of the public are invited to comment by calling (702) 267-4825 for Law Enforcement and (702) 267-4536 for the Communications Center, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Additionally, the public is also invited to participate in a virtual public hearing on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, beginning at 1 p.m.
Telephone comments are limited to 5 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. The virtual public hearing, which will be conducted via Webex, will give members of the public an opportunity to interact with CALEA assessors, to provide commentary about the Henderson Police Department, or ask questions about the accreditation process. To participate in the virtual public hearing, please e-mail HPDAccreditation@cityofhenderson.com no later than Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 5 p.m. and provide the following information:

In order to provide your public testimony, you must be logged into the Webex meeting online or by telephone at the start of the meeting. Please be prepared to provide your testimony at any time during the public hearing. When it is time for you to provide public testimony, your name will be called, and your telephone/microphone will be unmuted by the facilitator. Prior to providing your testimony, please state your name for the record. You are encouraged to speak from a prepared statement to ensure the best use of the 5-minute time limit. If a registered speaker is not available at the time they are called, the facilitator will call the next person in line.
