Henderson Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting

Henderson, Nev. – On April 19th, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the City of Henderson Police Department responded to the 2200 block of Galindo Court in reference to reports of a family disturbance involving an intoxicated male who was reportedly armed.

Preliminarily, officers arrived on scene and contacted the male who was uncooperative.

During the encounter, the male produced a handgun resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and officers immediately began life saving measures however, the subject succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An officer sustained minor injuries during the exchange of gunfire and was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the second officer-involved shooting in 2020.

The involved Henderson Police Officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and their names will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
