Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Targeting Impaired Drivers

Henderson, Nev. – The Henderson Police Department concluded its 1st campaign under the current Joining Forces Program.
During the enforcement initiative that ran from October 12th, 2020 through November 2nd, 2020, Henderson Police stopped 189 motorists resulting in 89 citations.

Of the 189 traffic stops, Traffic Officers completed 9 arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and assisted patrol with 8 DUI investigations. 50 drivers were cited for speeding, 6 cited for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 6 cited for red light violations, 2 cited for no insurance, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses.

The Henderson Police Department received $220,000 in federal funding for the extra enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2021 Joining Forces program. 

The grant provides funding for enhanced enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
