Enhanced Enforcement Targets Speeders

August 20, 2020

Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson Police Department will start a traffic enforcement initiative targeting speeders starting Saturday August 22nd, running through September 2nd, 2020.

As a part of the Joining Forces program, law enforcement agencies will work together to enforce speed limit laws. During this time, Henderson Police will use officers dedicated to the initiative to complete saturation patrols throughout the Henderson area to stop speeding vehicles. These officers will target areas that are known for excessive speeds and areas that have received the most citizen complaints of speed violations.

Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program aimed at reducing injuries and crashes through statewide enforcement of traffic safety laws.  The goal is to save lives by increasing public awareness about the dangers of making poor choices while driving.

The Henderson Police Department received $201,000 in federal funding for the enhanced enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety for the 2020 Joining Forces program. The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
