Henderson Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting #8

Henderson, Nev. – On December 14th, at about 8:05 a.m., the City of Henderson Police Department responded to the 2700 block of North Green Valley Parkway in reference to multiple callers reporting a male was at the location stating, “I’m going to stab someone, call the police”.
 
Preliminarily, officers arrived on scene and located a male matching the description, later identified as 37-year-old John Watson, outside of a business.  Watson, armed with a knife, advanced on Officers, which resulted in an officer-involved shooting.

Watson was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition. 

Watson faces at least one (1) count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Protected Person.  No booking photo is currently available.

No officers were injured during this incident.

As this is an open investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

This is the eighth officer-involved shooting in 2019.

The involved Henderson Police Officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and his name will be released after 48 hours, per department policy.
