Campaign Aims To Educate Students and Families on Safe Riding Practices and Traffic Laws
HENDERSON, Nev. (Aug. 7, 2025) — As the new school year approaches, the Henderson Police Department is rolling out a dedicated campaign to raise awareness about e-bike and e-scooter safety.
Between Jan. 1 and June 10, HPD responded to 23 injury crashes involving e-bikes. During that same period, nearly 30%of all auto vs bicyclist injury collisions involved an e-bike. Since 2024, HPD’s Traffic Division has investigated two fatal crashes involving e-bikes.
In response to these alarming statistics, HPD launched an informative video designed to educate both parents and students. The video covers:
The different classes of e-bikes and e-scooters and what they mean
What parents need to know, including the legal responsibilities they hold if their child operates an e-bike recklessly
Critical safety tips for young riders, and the real dangers of unsafe riding behavior
In addition to the video, HPD will distribute educational flyers to schools, community events, and other key locations. The campaign will also include email outreach, website updates, and additional communication efforts to maximize community awareness.
“Keeping our community safe, especially our youth, is a shared responsibility,” said Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader. “This campaign is part of our effort to better inform and protect our residents by highlighting the serious risks associated with e-bikes.”
As school begins, Henderson Police Officers will be actively enforcing school zone laws and ensuring e-bike riders are following the rules of the road.
