HENDERSON, Nev. – (August 4, 2025) On August 4, 2025, at approximately 12:46 A.M., the Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Racetrack Road and Burkholder Boulevard in reference to a collision involving an RTC of Southern Nevada transit bus and a motorcyclist.

A preliminary investigation indicates an RTC transit bus was traveling eastbound on Racetrack Road approaching Burkholder Boulevard.  The RTC transit bus then attempted to turn left onto northbound Burkholder Boulevard, on a flashing yellow turn signal, turning into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist traveling westbound on Racetrack Road.  The motorcyclist struck the front right corner of the bus, causing the rider to separate from the motorcycle.

The RTC of Southern Nevada transit bus was not in service at the time of this incident.

The motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Speed and impairment are not considered to be factors in this incident.  The driver of the RTC transit bus remained at the scene and was issued a citation.

The intersection of Racetrack Road and Burkholder Boulevard was closed for approximately 5 hours while the investigation was conducted.

The name of the decedent will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin notifications.

The collision is being investigated as the sixth accident-related fatality for 2025.
