Professional Biography:
Sam Bateman was elected at large to the Henderson City Council in June 2011
representing Ward IV. Councilman Bateman serves with the mayor and fellow
council members as the legislative branch of the Henderson community,
responsible for setting policies and making decisions concerning many different
aspects of local government. The City Council also approves the city’s budget.
Councilman Bateman represents the city on the Southern Nevada District Board of Health and the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
A Henderson resident since 1999, Sam Bateman was appointed to the city of Henderson Planning Commission in September 2007 by Mayor James B. Gibson. He was reappointed by Mayor Andy Hafen in 2009 and then elected Chairman by his fellow commissioners in July 2010.
Originally from Bountiful, Utah, Sam Bateman received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Utah. He continued his studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating from the UNLV Boyd School of Law in 2002. Sam honed his legal skills clerking for a United States District Court Judge as well as in private practice.
In 2004, Sam was named a Deputy District Attorney for Clark County, Nevada, primarily prosecuting criminal cases as well as advocating at the Nevada Legislature to help in Southern Nevada’s fight against crime.
