Professional Biography:
John F. Marz was
appointed January 23, 2012 to the Henderson City Council representing Ward III.
Councilman Marz serves with the mayor and fellow council members as the
legislative branch of the Henderson community, responsible for setting policies
and making decisions concerning many different aspects of local government. The
City Council also approves the city’s budget.
A Henderson resident for over 26 years, Councilman Marz is the owner of a marketing consultancy firm. He has over 30 years experience in marketing, advertising and public relations at the senior executive and corporate levels with the Mandalay Resort Group in Las Vegas and DRGM Advertising in Reno and Las Vegas.
Before his City Council appointment, Marz served since August 2009 on the Henderson Planning Commission. He previously was president of the Foxridge Home Owners Association for three years and served on the Estes McDoniel Elementary School Parent Teacher Association for two years.
In addition to his volunteer service within the Henderson community, Marz served four years on the Washoe County Planning Commission and four years on the Nevada State Board of Tourism.
Councilman Marz graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s in communications with a minor in marketing.
