Professional Biography:
Gerri Schroder was elected at large to the Henderson City Council in April 2007 representing Ward I. As a councilmember, Councilwoman Schroder serves with the mayor and fellow council members as the legislative branch of the city. She serves the entire Henderson community, which was named in 2006 by MONEY magazine as one of the top 20 places in the United States to live. As the second largest city in Nevada, Henderson has grown by 304% since 1990, with population projected to exceed 517,000 by 2030.

Previously, Gerri served as a district representative for Congresswoman Shelley Berkley from March 2000 to April 2007. Her responsibilities included constituent services relating to the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as outreach to the Asian communities.

As Councilwoman, Gerri represents the city on the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition (SNRPC) and the Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board. She is an alternate member of the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) Board of Directors and the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) Board of Health. She is also a member of the city of Henderson Redevelopment Agency.

In February 2008, Gerri was named the Elected Official of the Year by the Asian Chamber of Commerce. Gerri is a member of the Asian and Henderson Chambers of Commerce.

Gerri is active in civic affairs and currently serves as president of the S.A.F.E. House, Inc. Board of Directors, secretary of the Japan America Society of Nevada and past president of Phi Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She is a member of the Henderson and Asian Chambers of Commerce, Japan American Citizen’s League, Organization of Chinese Americans Advisory committee, the Homeless Veterans Stand Down committee, and the U.S. Vets at the Meadows Advisory committee.

Between 1994 and 2007, Gerri voluntarily served on the city of Henderson Planning Commission and the Commemorative Beautification Commission (CBC).
