Professional Biography:
Gerri Schroder was elected at large to the Henderson City Council in April 2007
and re-elected in April 2011,
representing Ward I. Councilwoman Schroder serves with the mayor and fellow
council members as the legislative branch of the Henderson community,
responsible for setting policies and making decisions concerning many different
aspects of local government. The City Council also approves the city’s budget.
As Councilwoman, Gerri represents the city on the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition, Workforce Connections, and Clark County School District Oversight Committee on School Facilities. She is also a member of the Henderson Development Association and the Henderson Redevelopment Agency. In addition, Gerri serves on the Governor's Workforce Investment Board's Mining, Materials and Manufacturing Sector Council as well as the National League of Cities 2012 Community and Economic Development Policy and Advocacy Committee.
Between 1994 and 2007, Gerri voluntarily served on the city of Henderson Planning Commission and the Commemorative Beautification Commission. In February 2008, Gerri was named the Elected Official of the Year by the Asian Chamber of Commerce and in 2011 she received the Public Official of the Year award from the Japan America Society of Nevada. Gerri is a member of the Henderson, Las Vegas, Asian, Latin, and Urban Chambers of Commerce. and Henderson Chambers of Commerce.
Gerri is active in civic affairs and currently serves as president of S.A.F.E. House, Inc., chair of the McCaw School of Mines, secretary of the Japan America Society of Nevada and secretary of the Japan American Citizens League. Additionally, she is a member of the Henderson Historical Society, the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company, Nevada State College Diversity Council, OCA Las Vegas Chapter and the American Legion Post 40 and VFW Post 3848 Ladies Auxiliary.
