Events
Each year city leaders are joined by those who have served our country, those who continue the fight, and families and friends of veterans and those soldiers currently serving our country to celebrate the lives and actions of our military personnel in protecting this great nation.
Veterans are honored at Veterans Day ceremonies at the Henderson Veterans Memorial Wall adjacent to City Hall. The event includes a presentation of the colors by the Basic High School Marine Corps JROTC, a special musical tribute, and the traditional placement of a memorial wreath at the base of the wall. In addition, one of the most moving portions of the event is the reading of the names, commemorating Henderson veterans recently deceased. The names are etched onto the black marble wall to memorialize their contributions in keeping our nation free.
Blue Star Mothers - Holiday Stockings
The City of Henderson is partnering with the Blue Star Mothers to assemble
and send holiday stockings to soldiers who are deployed overseas.
The Blue Star Mothers are encouraging military families who have a loved one deployed to Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, Africa , Korea or any combat area to stuff a stocking for their loved one. You can bring
care package items with you but there will be plenty of items to stuff your own care package/stocking. Please bring a filled out custom form/label with you (we will have custom forms/labels on hand if you forget). We will also provide the APO/FPO Flat rate boxes too. When you are done stuffing your stocking/care package the Blue Star Moms will ship it for you to your deployed loved one on your behalf for
FREE!
Who: Everyone is welcome to stuff a stocking for any deployed service member in a war zone. All branches of service and all ranks welcome!
Where: Henderson Convention Center 200 Water Street Henderson, NV (Ballroom D)
When: Tuesday & Wednesday, November 27th & 28th 2012
Time: 9:00am - 6:00pm
What to Bring: Your loved ones deployed mailing address (Label and Custom Form). Feel free to wear a fun holiday hat as this is a tradition while we stuff stockings!

City is a volunteer organization of mothers with children who are or have
honorably served in the military. The Blue Star Mothers provide support for
active duty service personnel, promote patriotism, assist Veterans
organizations, and are available to assist in homeland volunteer efforts.
