On the Go
Traffic
congestion, air quality and the daily commute are growing issues for
Southern Nevadans. Become part of the solution by choosing to use an
alternative mode of transportation. If you carpool, vanpool, bike,
ride a motorcycle, walk or use transit just four times a month, instead of
driving to work alone, you will help to improve our air quality
and reduce traffic congestion.
Check
with your employer to see if they participate in the
Club
Ride program. If not, encourage them to join. Some incentives include
monthly prize drawings and work site preferential parking for
carpool/vanpool participants.
The Texas Transportation Institute 2007 Urban Mobility Study estimated that the average Las Vegas commuter wastes 39 hours per year stuck in traffic. And, according to Sperling’s Best Places, seventy-five percent of Las Vegas commuters drive alone. The average in the United States is 71 percent.
