At Work
Since
most of us spend our days at work, there are an abundance of
opportunities to save energy, conserve water, and reduce our waste. Some
of these things include:
Compostable Utensils
Purchasing compostable utensils,
cups and other tableware for use at events where convenience matters
most.
Environmentally Preferable
Purchasing
Most people are unaware of the toxicity in everyday office
products like furniture, ink, paper and plastics. One way to assure that
toxicity and other impacts is considered is through an
environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) program in your office.
Office Recycling
Encouraging your coworkers to
collect and recycle aluminum cans, paper and other recyclable
materials.
Recycled-Content Office Paper
Use recycled office paper for
your most frequent printing needs. Look for paper made with at
least 30% postconsumer recycled content. For more information about
recycled content and environmentally preferable paper, visit
Conservatree.
Use Alternative
Transportation to Get to Work
Use the bus, a carpool, vanpool,
your bike, or your own two feet to get to work. Check out the
Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada’s Rideshare
Program to learn more about your travel options and incentives
for making the switch.
