The City of Henderson was incorporated in 1953 and operates under a council-manager form of government. Elected officials consist of a mayor, four city councilmen and two municipal judges. The Mayor and Council are elected at large on a nonpartisan basis, although no two councilmen can be from the same ward of the city's four wards. All elected officials serve four-year terms. City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
