Superintendent Lauer was born in Ft. Dix, NJ, and raised in Tacoma, WA. She moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1998 and was hired by the Henderson Police Department.
Law
Enforcement History
First hired as a Corrections Officer in 1980 for the Pierce County
(Washington) Sheriff’s Department, Superintendent Lauer served as an Operations
and Program Officer. She was promoted to Sergeant in 1987 and Lieutenant in 1992
where she developed numerous innovative programs new to the Detention Center.
Superintendent Lauer also served as Lieutenant in the Lewis County (Washington)
Sheriff’s Office and as the Assistant Administrator for the Seattle INS
Detention Facility. Superintendent Lauer developed the first Classification
Program for the Henderson Detention Center as the Classification Manager, and in
2002 was promoted to Assistant Detention Center Administrator where she oversaw
Detention Center operations, including Classification, Medical and the Culinary
staff. She was promoted to Corrections Superintendent in 2010.
Education and Training
- Technical Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Tacoma Community College in 1990
- Certified through the American Jail Association as a Certified Corrections Manager (CCM)
