Henderson Police
The Community Relations Unit of the Henderson Police Department is proud to serve
the City of Henderson through proactive crime prevention programs, services and classes.
Our mission is to partner with
the community in order to
reduce crime, the fear of crime,
and to enhance the overall
quality of life in the City of Henderson
The Community Relations Unit operates out of the Community Relations
Office inside the Galleria Mall on Sunset Rd. We are located on the north side on the
lower level.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. You can contact
the the Community Relations Office at (702) 267-5100.
The Community Relations Unit offers a variety of programs, services and classes.
The unit coordinates all requests for speaking engagements,
demonstrations and crime prevention events through the use of the
Event Request Form.
Residential Related Programs/Services:
- Crime Free Multi-Housing - working with individual apartment complex managers to
address crime-related problems.

- Neighborhood Watch - working with neighborhood groups to encourage individual
citizens awareness and involvement in crime prevention strategies.
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design - crime prevention surveys in various
neighborhoods to reduce the likelihood of crime.
- Operation Identification - encouraging citizens to personalize their property by
providing engravers for personal use.
- Introduction to Neighborhood Watch - learn why and how to participate in the Henderson
Police Department's Neighborhood Watch Program.
- Neighborhood Watch Formation - once you have completed the requirements for the
Neighborhood Watch Program, we'll send an officer to speak to your group to help get things started.
- Home Security - for residents not active in our Neighborhood Watch Program, we'll
help you learn ways to help protect your home.
Business Related Programs/Services:
- Summons Program - trains local business personnel in the issuing of misdemeanor
court summons for trespassers and shoplifters.
- Security Chiefs Program - quarterly meetings are held bringing together the
security heads of commercial properties to discuss crime trends and brainstorm solutions.
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design - reduces crime fro
commercial properties through the proper design and use of the built environment around the business.
- Labor Relations Mediation - works to provide for a safe environment during local labor disputes.
- Preventing Theft/Shoplifting - tips on providing business friendly security
for your goods and services.
- Preventing Fraud - teaches safeguards against the latest trends in credit card and check fraud.
- Preventing Employee Theft - learn some preventative measures to guard against
embezzlement in your business.
Youth Related Programs/Services:
- Drug Awareness and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) - teaches the health effects of drugs and
how to resist peer pressure.

- Every 15 Minutes - shows high school students the dangers of driving while
impaired and the importance of good decisions. (Note: You must have Windows PowerPoint or Windows Powerpoint Viewer installed to view this file.)
- "Officer Friendly" Visits - teaches general safety and the dangers of strangers
and guns to Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
- Police Station Tours - group tour of the Henderson Police Department facilities
are available, giving kids a broader perspective of the function of the police in our community.
- Participation in Career Fairs - officers of the Henderson Police Department
work with local schools, from elementary to college, to expose students to the duties
and requirements of becoming a Henderson Police Officer.
- Fingerprint Kits - fingerprinting kits are given free of charge and officers
instruct parents on the use of the kits along with other safety information.
- No More Bullying - a class demonstrating anti-bullying techniques, as well as,
reinforcing the principles of kindness and mutual respect.
- Internet Safety - a class introducing safe internet practices to parents
and their children, as well as the dangers of internet predators.
- Gun Safety - teaches kids what to do if they find a gun and other
information regarding gun safety.
- Stranger Danger - teaches tips to children regarding strangers and general safety.
Special Program/Services:

Watch Your Car - battles auto theft by identifying vehicles that are not
normally driven between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
- National Night Out - an annual event bringing the community together to
discuss the latest in crime prevention.
- Mediation Referral - this service puts neighborhood disputants together
with an objective, skilled third party mediator to help resolve difficult disputes
before enforcement action is necessary.
- Special Event Support - provides logistical and technical support
for special community events.
- Personal Safety and Security for Seniors - helps seniors learn how to
avoid becoming victims of crimes, as well as providing some practical methods
for increasing crime preventing awareness.
- Personal Safety and Security for Women -this class provides the
women of our community with safety tips and methods to avoid becoming a
victim of a crime.
- Identity Theft
- shows how to protect yourself from identity theft and safeguard your
personal information.
Permit Applications:
Permit applications are required for any events such as
competitive activity
consisting of running or biking races or similar athletic activities; live
musical events or dances, community celebrations and observances, not organized
for the dominant purpose of expressing the permittee’s views, commercial
filming; or neighborhood activities such as block parties or picnics; or any
other public event other than a parade or public assembly using any public
street or right-of-way.
