Summer
Camps
When school is almost out for the summer, we have the answer to summer boredom! The City of
Henderson has a variety of summer youth programs to choose from.
Summer Teen Kamp
Teen Kamp (TK) is for 12- to-15-year-old teens looking for excitement and new friends this summer. The program offers mentoring and leadership activities tailored to meet teens’ needs and interests. They develop self-confidence and positive decision-making skills while taking part in unique activities and field trips. Each week is themed, providing an opportunity to experience new recreation adventures.
Teen C.H.O.I.C.E, Choosing How Our Individuality Can
Excel
This program is designed for preteens and teens (ages 11-14) and provides an
opportunity for each person to explore and participate in hands-on activities,
events and excursions while building leadership, self-esteem, confidence,
positive attitude, and friendships. Teens interact with our kids camps involving
culinary, art and special events as they develop life skills that can make each
individual excel. Registration packets will be available at VVRC starting May 9;
registration is required. For more information, call 267-4060.
Summer Fun
Summer Fun is a seasonal no-cost drop-in program for kids held right in
their neighborhoods. They’ll experience a fun-filled summer with new and
exciting activities that keep them intrigued and engaged. Activities include
arts and crafts, games, sports, and special events. Kids must currently be
attending or have completed grades K-8 of the current school district year. All
participants will enjoy planned activities in their designated age groups, K-5
and 6-8. Register early as space is limited. There is a nominal cost for special
events (schedules will be distributed at each site). The program is not offered
on July 4.
A parent/guardian must complete a participant information form for each child prior to program participation. Advance registration begins May 10 at all Safekey and Teen Scene sites during program hours, as well as City of Henderson recreation centers. On-site registration is available on the program start date at the location your child will be attending. Parents must register prior to their
child attending.
