Fourth of July at the Pool
Whitney Ranch Indoor Pool ● All ages ● noon-2:00 p.m. ● $1-$2
Celebrate America's independence a few days early and stay cool in the pool. We're celebrating with a trivia contest; popcorn; red, white and blue snow cones; and a pinwheel craft station. Wear a costume and receive a prize. Children under 8 years old must be supervised by a parent/guardian in the water within arm's reach at all times. All pool rules apply.

Hunter Safety
Valley View Recreation Center ● Ages 12 & up ● 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Co-sponsored by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), hunters of all skill levels are taught the importance of safety and conservation while earning their hunter safety cards. After registration, pick up your workbook at VVRC or NDOW. Workbooks must be completed prior to attending. For cost and registration, call NDOW at 486-5127. Payment is due to the instructor at class.

Registration for Youth Soccer Begins
Sports office ● Ages 5 & up ● $40
City of Henderson leagues are designed to guide each participant through an organized program and to develop the fundamental skills of soccer while emphasizing fun and sportsmanship. U6 and U8 divisions are co-rec with no scores or standings kept. Days, times and locations of practices are at the volunteer coach's discretion. Teams are formed according to the player rating system. Space is limited. Register online using the activity listed in Henderson Happenings or in person at any recretion center.

Family Bounce House Night

This family event provides children with the chance to jump, bounce, slide, climb, and tumble in and out of our many bounce houses. Registration (per person bouncing) is required the Wednesday prior to the event. Parents/guardians attend for free. Register online using activity number 153074-01.

Introductory to Heraldry

The art of heraldry is the study and identification of family emblems (coats of arms). Our workshop presents this fascinating medieval art form with a touch of humor. Explore the myths, histories and meaning of family coats of arms, and learn how to begin your own research. Register online using activity number 193047-49.

Summer Stroll & Splash
Paseo Vista Park ● All ages ● 9:00-10:00 a.m. ● Free
July is National Parks and Recreation Month. Celebrate by taking part in a short family-friendly stroll on a Henderson trail. The stroll concludes at a park with a splash pad where families can stay and play. Wear weather- and water- appropriate clothing. Hats, sunscreen and water are recommended. Those under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Register in advance or onsite prior to the stroll. Register online using activity number 643008-63.

LifeguardLove Your Lifeguard Day
All pools ● All ages ● Open swim hours ● $1-$3
Family members learn about the importance of water safety and supervised water play. Lifeguards demonstrate lifesaving skills and discuss important water safety tips to keep your family safe in and around water. Learn about classes offered by the City of Henderson, including lifeguard training, water safety and basic water rescue for parents and day care providers. Children participate in activities including relay races, safety swims, question-and-answer sessions, and even get to dress up like a lifeguard for a photo opportunity. Children must be accompanied by an adult in the water within arm's reach at all times. All pool rules apply.


TennisJuly 11-14
Smash & Splash Tennis Swim Camp
Silver Springs Recreation Center Tennis Courts ● Ages 8-17 yrs. ● 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ● $100
Campers learn the strokes, etiquette and rules of tennis. Fundamentals are taught and reviewed to develop a solid foundation. Ground strokes, volleys, serves, overheads, lobs, movement, and specialty shots are refined using drills, targets and games. Each camper receives a T-shirt, certificate and refreshments. Camp trophies are awarded. Lunch breaks are in a shaded area or indoors. Instructors escort campers to the pool, but campers may leave the pool if they choose. Bring a racket, lunch, drinks, hat, and sunscreen. Instruction and lunch are 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and optional swimming is 12:30-4:00 p.m. Register online using activity number 623012-71.

Jump for Fun

Bouncing, sliding, climbing, and tumbling are examples of the fun kids have at our Jump for Fun event, which is held in our gym and features different jump houses each month. Register online using activity number 153010-37.

Dive-in Movie Night

Enjoy a fun-filled evening at the pool while relaxing under the stars on an inner tube or sit poolside while watching a hit movie (rated G or PG). Children under 8 years old must be supervised by a parent/guardian in the water within arm's reach at all times. All pool rules apply.

Rad Tad Water Safety
Wells Outdoor Pool ● Ages 6-10 yrs. ● noon-2:00 p.m. ● Daily admission applies
Children explore water safety in a fun yet serious atmosphere. Demonstrations target personal water safety and emergency water safety techniques easily implemented by children. Along with the City of Henderson's own Rad Tad, information is presented by an American Red Cross water safety instructor. Proper swim attire is required. Children under 8 years old must be supervised by a parent/guardian in the water within arm's reach at all times. Daily admission and all pool rules apply.
