Overview
Cornerstone Park, located in the mixed-use Cornerstone redevelopment area near Stephanie Street and Wigwam Road, will be a 100-acre park featuring a 25-acre lake as its focal point. Additional amenities will include a large group picnic or gathering area, restrooms, picnic ramadas, interpretive signage, natural wildlife habitat, and and a future neighborhood park with a tot lot and play structures. Cornerstone Park will have open space, trails and pathways to encourage activities like bicycling and bird watching. The park will connect to the City of Henderson trail system via Union Pacific Railroad Trail and Pittman Wash Trail.
History
The lake site was formed as a result of previous gravel mining activities, which created a lake fed by storm drainage and groundwater.
