SNPLMA funded: trail: $11,390,170
Estimated completion: fall 2012
Size: 60-acre park; 4-mile trail
Overview
Park upgrades include pedestrian connections and amenities. The trails will have energy efficient lighting and safety enhancements, way-finding and directional signage, interpretive elements, themed public art, and kiosks, along with restoration of some washed out areas.
A bridge is planned across Pittman Wash at Arroyo Grande Park to connect the northern and southern portions of the park and provide trail connection for the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Trail, currently under construction. An undercrossing at American Pacific Drive will provide access from Arroyo Grande Park to Cornerstone Park.
History
Arroyo Grande Park was the first joint use of a park within a detention basin in the Las Vegas Valley. The wash trails were constructed for joint use for maintenance of the wash, to maintain utility access, and
for recreational purposes. The trails have been improved over the years, but still require additional lighting and amenities to be consistent over the 4-mile length.
