About The Henderson Senior Center
The Senior Center is like a home away from home for many seniors in the community. It provides a variety of activities and services for patrons age 50 and over. Daily leisure activities and instructional classes are available, and excursions and special events are also offered every month.

Social Services
The center provides a variety of social services to help seniors in accessing a broad range of community services. We offer guidance with energy assistance, care management services, food commodities, information and referral. Free monthly workshops on a variety of pertinent senior topics and a caregiver support group are also offered. Call (702) 267-4156 for more information.

The Black Mountain Nutrition Program
This program provides healthy balanced meals, both congregate and homebound, for seniors in the community. Lunch is served at the Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The suggested donation for those 60 and over is $1.50; there is a $3 charge for those under 60. Meals on Wheels delivers meals Monday-Friday to qualifying homebound seniors. Henderson Seniors' Auxiliary
The nonprofit Henderson Seniors' Auxiliary provides meals on the weekends. On Saturdays, brunch is served 9:00-11:00 a.m.; there is a $2 charge for these meals. On Sundays, lunch is served from noon to 1:30 p.m. There is a $3 charge for these meals.

Volunteer Opportunities
The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department offers a myriad of volunteer opportunities:

  • Serving lunch to seniors who are unable to get their own trays.
  • Assisting in the dining room.
  • Knitting and crocheting items for premature babies born at local hospitals and for servicemen and women stationed overseas.
  • Quilting items for cancer patients.
  • Working with the Henderson Seniors’ Auxiliary (various committees).
  • Cleaning books for underprivileged children.
  • Helping with the Mini Mart (a low cost grocery store for seniors).
  • Teaching classes.

The City of Henderson Senior Center volunteer program works hand in hand with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to connect those who wish to use their time and talents to help others. Pick up an application at the Senior Center. Orientation is at 1:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.
