Build Skills and Confidence With Learn-to-Swim Levels
Our unique multi-level instructional approach is unlike anything offered by other aquatic training programs.
Only the American Red Cross offers comprehensive course levels that teach participants how to swim skillfully and safely. Plus, instructors are thoroughly trained Red Cross water safety instructors, so swimmers of all ages and abilities are in good hands. Participants learn a variety of strokes, including the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. They are also introduced to a wide range of personal safety skills and diving techniques. Courses are fun and interactive with hands-on training. More advanced-level students refine their skills, learn the basics of springboard diving and discover how to incorporate swimming into a life fitness plan.
The prerequisite for each level is successful demonstration of the skills taught in the preceding level. Beginners start at Level 1, which has no prerequisite. In addition to the six levels, a Parent N Me program teaches children ages 6 months to 3 years to explore the water accompanied by their parent or caregiver. Preschool Aquatics (ages 3-5 years) promotes the developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills.
Inclement weather policy for Learn-to-Swim: First incident - No refund or makeup; second incident - class will be made up on the following Friday; third incident or more - refunds will be issued for class days missed.
All Learn-To-Swim participants in Levels 1-6 will be placed in the appropriate level (based on the participant's skills) on the first day of class.
