Turf Conversion How do we determine what turf is non-functional? If the only time you step on it is to mow it, it’s non-functional. Since 2003, more than 94 turf conversion projects have been completed, removing more than 1.5 million square feet of turf, mostly from medians, parking lots and areas where turf is primarily decorative. This translates into an annual savings of over 79 million gallons of water – enough to fill more than 120 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Funding for this program has been received through grants and rebates from many agencies, including the Bureau of Reclamation, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Nevada Conservation District and Henderson Utilities Services, plus savings from water expenses. There is no cost to Henderson residents. |
