Whitney Mesa Trail and Trailhead Public Meeting Set for Jan. 21
2009 Henderson Holiday Decorating Contest Winners Announced HENDERSON, Nev. – The City of Henderson is hosting a public meeting to provide residents with an update on the Whitney Mesa Trail and Trailhead project from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr.
The Whitney Mesa Trail and Trailhead is located on a 100-acre site that will include a mix of open space and recreation amenities, including scenic overlooks, picnic areas, playgrounds, and 2 miles of recreational trails that will provide connectivity to Whitney Ranch Recreation Center and Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve.
Representatives from the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Park Planning division will be on hand to offer insight and discuss project updates.
A portion of funding for the project has been provided by the Bureau of Land Management through the sale of public lands as authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA).
The City of Henderson has been awarded more than $235 million in SNPLMA funding for more than 30 parks and trails projects, which has helped the city keep pace with an increased demand for outdoor recreation opportunities in the community.
