Registration Open for Real Skilz Bat Manufacturers’ Challenge
Henderson Slow-Pitch Tournament to Draw Teams From Throughout Southwest
HENDERSON, Nev. – The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for its inaugural Real Skilz Bat Manufacturers’ Challenge now through Oct. 27. Registration is $250 per team, which includes sanction fees. The slow-pitch softball tournament will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, 298 Arroyo Grande Blvd., and Russell Road Recreation Complex, 5901 E. Russell Rd.
Teams can register for one of four divisions: men’s open, men’s D, men’s E, and co-rec D. There will be unlimited home runs allowed in each division and all games are NSA officiated. Games held on Saturday, Oct. 31 will end by 4:00 p.m. so players can enjoy Halloween with their families. Co-rec division play is Sunday only.
In addition to the tournament, the event will feature a home run derby on the evening of Friday, Oct. 30, with the top two finishers receiving a manufacturer’s bat. The derby winner will advance to compete against bat manufacturers’ representatives in a final round face-off. Manufacturers include Miken and Mizuno, represented by Denny Crine and Johnny Bailey respectively. Awards packages will be presented for first, second and third place.
“We’ve had dozens of players throughout the region asking us to add a fall event to our schedule, so this slow-pitch tournament is expected to draw teams from around the Southwest,” said Ted Lockamon, Recreation Services supervisor, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “The weather will be just right, the competition will be strong, and players will love showing off their skills on some of the finest fields in the region.”
