Mini Indy Races Put Little Ones In Driver’s Seat Oct. 3
HENDERSON, Nev. – Little ones take a turn in the driver’s seat in the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Mini Indy Races, to be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. The event is open to children ages 3-6 for $8 per person. Register online at cityofhenderson.com (activity 154070-48) or at any City of Henderson recreation center by Sept. 19.
On race day, each child receives an official race number to attach to their shirt as they prepare to use the recreation center’s big wheel tricycles to race around the track with their peers. Children ages 3-4 race 10:00-10:45 a.m., and those ages 5-6 race 11:15 a.m. to noon. Parents/guardians must attend with their children.
“Riding a bike, even a big wheel tricycle, is an excellent way to keep children active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle,” said Valerie Derrick, Recreation Services supervisor, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Our Mini Indy Races kick off the racing season and give little ones a chance to have fun and feel a sense of achievement. In our races, everyone is a winner.”
