City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department Hosting Make A Difference Month Coat and Blanket Drive

HENDERSON, Nev. – The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is observing Make a Difference Month by hosting a blanket and coat drive Oct. 1-31. New and gently used blankets, coats, jackets and sweaters can be dropped off in the lobbies of Black Mountain (599 Greenway Rd.), Downtown (105 W. Basic Rd.), Silver Springs (1951 Silver Springs Pkwy.,) and Whitney Ranch (1575 Galleria Dr.) recreation centers as well as the Henderson Multigenerational Center (250 S. Green Valley Pkwy.) during normal operating hours.

All donations will be delivered to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness among Nevada’s youth. Since 1999, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth has helped more than 5,000 children and teens receive critically needed services.

“Homeless youth and teens are an overlooked and underserved segment of our population because their needs are dramatically different than those of homeless adults,” said Henderson City Councilwoman Kathleen Boutin, and founder and chairman of the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth. “If we are able to reach out to them today, we may be able to prevent them from a lifetime of homelessness. Even the donation of a warm coat or blanket is a step toward the future. Working together as a community, we can make a difference.” For additional information about the Make a Difference Month blanket and coat drive, visit cityofhenderson.com.
