City of Henderson to Host Howie Landa’s Hoop Camp in July
HENDERSON, Nev. – Kids and teens hoping to hone their basketball skills can take
part in Howie Landa’s Hoop Camp from 9 a.m. to noon July 13-15, at Del Webb
Middle School, 2200 Reunion Dr. The three-part program is open to players ages
8-16 for $75 per person, and includes a camp shirt. Register online at
cityofhenderson.com (activity 623018-69) or at any City of Henderson recreation
center. Space is limited. The camp is sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks
and Recreation Department.
Howie Landa, a former WBL and WNBA assistant coach and former UNLV Runnin’
Rebels head coach, provides instruction on the mechanics of basketball,
including ball handling, defense, passing and shooting. The camp is designed to
provide players with a strong foundation on the fundamentals while giving them
the confidence they need to improve their skills and work to their potential.
“It’s not every day that kids can learn to play basketball from one of the
premier coaches in the nation,” said Ted Lockamon, Recreation Services
supervisor for the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Landa is
known for his ability to inspire players to strive for greatness, and he’s an
outstanding role model for our young players.”
