Giant Garage Sales Set for September
Community Events Bring Buyers, Sellers Together
HENDERSON, Nev. – Residents hoping to make some extra money and those looking to pick up a few bargains may find what they are looking for at two Giant Garage Sales hosted by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. The events will take place from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Silver Springs Recreation Center (1951 Silver Springs Pkwy.) and from
7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Black Mountain Recreation Center (599 Greenway Rd.). The events are held outdoors in the recreation centers’ parking lots.
The sales will feature a wide variety of sellers and items, ranging from toys and games to household items and tools. Only second-hand items will be sold.
“We host several of these events throughout the year, and turnout is always excellent,” said Dot Tuthill, Recreation program coordinator for the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “We handle all the advertising, promotion and logistics, so all sellers have to do is set up their booths and make some sales. For shoppers, it’s like attending dozens of garage sales in one central location--- a giant garage sale.”
Adults wishing to sell items at either event may reserve a booth at least one week in advance. Booths are $20 each, and encompass two parking spaces (assigned randomly). Register online starting Aug. 12 at cityofhenderson.com (activity 154001-12 for Silver Springs and 154001-00 for Black Mountain) or at any City of Henderson recreation center.
