Free Educational Forum Explores Long-Term Care Planning

HENDERSON, Nev.—The City of Henderson Senior Citizens Advisory Commission is hosting a free educational forum on long-term care insurance at
6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy. Participation is free.

The forum will be presented by Terry Cochran, CLU, ChFC, CLF, who will discuss the benefits and uses of long-term care products and services. Long-term care helps meet health or personal needs, including medical and non-medical care for those with chronic illness or disability.

According to the U. S. Department of Health & Human Services, the government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans,
9 million men and women over the age of 65 will need long-term care this year. By 2020, an estimated 12 million Americans will need long-term care.

The purpose of the forum is for participants to gain a better understanding of long-term care planning and to consider possible future needs. Planning in advance gives the individual more control over their decisions and may help preserve independence.

Cochran is the leading general agent at American National Insurance Company, and a recipient of the National Management Award for 15 years. A member of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, Cochran is also an internationally known speaker and trainer and has co-authored books with actor Chuck Norris, self-help expert Brian Tracy, motivational speaker Zig Ziglar and entrepreneur John Assaraf.

The Henderson Senior Citizens Advisory Commission is comprised of appointed citizen volunteers who make recommendations to the City Council on issues of interest to senior citizens and others. The commission hosts a free educational forum every other month.
