HENDERSON, Nev. – The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a family field trip called “Spend a Day In the Forest” from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. Participants meet at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. Register online at cityofhenderson.com (activity 604076-95) or at any City of Henderson recreation center.
The trip takes families to the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (SMNRA) near Mt. Charleston, where they will learn about and experience forests and meadows with a U. S. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including desert bighorn sheep, bobcats, and wild horses, as well as 25 different species of animals and plants that are found nowhere else in the world.
