Demonstration Cooking Workshops Focus on Flavors, Techniques of Three Popular Cuisines
HENDERSON, Nev.— The Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy., is hosting three cooking demonstration workshops in November that explore the flavors, techniques and dishes of three distinct cuisines. Participation is open to those ages 12 and up for $33 per workshop. Register at any City of Henderson recreation center or online at cityofhenderson.com.
Thai Cooking Basics II (activity 174057-24) takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. It explores the preparation of a variety of popular Thai dishes, including chicken coconut soup, shrimp dumplings, Thai beef salad and chicken curry. An additional $10 supply fee is due to the instructor at class.
Chinese Cooking Basics II (activity 174058-24) will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Participants will learn about the various methods and techniques used in Chinese cooking. Dishes prepared include velvet chicken and corn soup, firecracker chicken dumplings, sweet and sour pork, and Mongolian beef. An additional $10 supply fee is due to the instructor at class.
Italian Basics (activity 174048-25) will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Participants will learn how to prepare Italian classics, including handmade pasta, marinara sauce, creamy mushroom sauce, and pasta e fagioli (bean soup. An additional $7 supply fee is due to the instructor at class.
“These demonstration workshops are perfect for people looking to add some variety to the family dinner table,” said Damon Hunter, Recreation program coordinator, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “Dining in can be fun and often far less expensive than dining out, even when you use high quality ingredients. Our expert instructor can show anyone how it’s done, even first-time cooks. And you’ll get to sample all of the dishes too.”
