College Fair Comes to Henderson Nov. 18-19

HENDERSON, Nev.— A free college fair designed to provide information and guidance to high school students and their parents will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18 and from 7 p.m. 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. in Henderson. The free event is co-sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and the Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and Youth Opportunity.

The event provides students with the chance to learn how to properly complete a college application, write a strong essay for college boards, and write an effective resume. Workshop presenters will be able to assist with questions and offer tips. Parents and students can also learn strategies to search and apply for scholarships, other funding opportunities available for college, saving money for college, and opportunities for students who may opt to pursue college athletics.

“This event helps students and parents alike by providing them with information they need as they plan for college,” said Kurt Williams, Recreation Services supervisor, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “The college application process doesn’t have to be daunting if you’re prepared with the right information and the right attitude.”
