City of Henderson’s 21st Annual
Midnite Madness Softball Tournament This Weekend
HENDERSON, Nev. – Adult softball teams from Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California will compete in the City of Henderson’s 21st Annual Midnite Madness Softball Tournament this weekend. The tournament is sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) which sanctions and promotes the program. People of all ages are invited to watch the action; admission is free.
Play for the co-rec division takes place from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex (298 Arroyo Grande Blvd., at American Pacific Drive and Santiago Drive) and at Russell Road Recreation Complex (5901 E. Russell Rd., Russell Road at Stephanie Street). In all, 48 co-rec teams will compete.
Men’s division play takes place from 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 12 at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex. There are 32 teams competing in this division.
Teams qualifying for berths will move on to the USSSA World Series this fall, which will be hosted in Orlando, Fla.
Midnite Madness is a one-pitch, self-pitch tournament featuring half-hour games that are played one after the other. Play begins after dark and continues until the morning. Players take the day off and resume play again after dark. During the day, players relax, socialize and enjoy park amenities.
